Chris Harsh, Intern

As a counselor, my goal would be to empower you to strive to move towards the things you value and give you purpose despite the obstacles you may face. I hope to be a safe space where your story is honored. My desire is you will be encouraged, listened to without judgment, and given hope to face the challenges that life can bring. I also am a follower of Jesus and am willing to incorporate a faith based perspective to the session if the client desires to do so. However much or little you desire.

My journey is not a traditional path of a Counselor in Training. I graduated in 2020 from Upper Iowa University where I received my Undergraduate degree in Exercise Science. During that process, I began my own personal healing that led to my desire to work in the field of mental health and counseling. I am currently pursuing a Masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Upper Iowa University. I am also training and working towards obtaining my credentials to become a Pastor in my Church's network.

I typically spend my free time in a few different ways. Oftentimes, you will find me with my church community. Other times you will find me watching baseball and talking sports with my roommates. I also help with a Campus Ministry at Drake University in Des Moines where we lead Bible studies, as well as prepare and equip students to lead their own Bible studies in their places of influence.

I currently am seeing clients of all ages and backgrounds. My future professional desires include: Trauma, Marriage, Family & Relationship Counseling, Anxiety, Depression, and Low Self Worth.
