Brooklynn McKinney, MS, T-LMHC
The journey of life is often not a straight path but one of many unexpected twists, turns, highs, lows, and everything in between. My goal as a therapist is to come alongside you and offer empathy, comfort, and hope as well as tools and insight that can lead to growth and healing. As a believer, I also integrate faith as a part of my counseling endeavors as permitted and desired by my clients.
I received my Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology from Liberty University in Virginia. While on my education journey, I took off for the mission field. I was blessed with the opportunity to spend 5 years in the country of Colombia where I worked with kids, youth, and adults facing extreme trauma. I also partnered alongside several different churches and helped with a variety of different ministries all aimed at improving the overall mental and physical well-being of the individuals involved.
Once being back stateside, I immediately began working on my Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University. While pursuing my Master’s, I worked at a behavioral analysis clinic for kids with neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism. Loving the kids and improvements I saw occurring, I decided to add a graduate degree in Applied Behavioral Analysis through Arizona State University, which I am set to finish this year.
I see people of all stages and ages though my focus is mainly on children, adolescents, marriage and family therapy, and trauma therapy. I will see children as young as 3 years of age and individuals with special needs including but not limited to autism, down syndrome, and genetic disorders. If an individual is nonverbal, I will provide parent training sessions to the parents so they can implement practices at home.
