Tibisa Thor, MA, T-LMHC

As a Temporary Licensed Mental Health Counselor (T-LMHC) and National Certified Counselor (NCC), I bring over nine years of experience in the social work and helping professions, along with a deep commitment to supporting individuals on their journey toward healing, growth, and wholeness. Prior to my clinical counseling training, I served as a Christian counselor in a private organization, walking alongside women, children, and families as they navigated life’s challenges. I have also worked as a mentor and life coach, providing encouragement, guidance, and support to individuals across various stages of life.
I earned my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University, where I developed advanced clinical skills grounded in evidence-based practice and ethical care. My professional experience has allowed me to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and life experiences. I believe every person possesses unique strengths and the capacity for growth, even amid difficult circumstances.
My counseling approach integrates evidence-based therapeutic interventions with a compassionate, holistic perspective that honors the emotional, physical, relational, and spiritual dimensions of life. As a Christian counselor, I am also able to incorporate faith based principles for clients who desire spiritual integration as part of the counseling process. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, life transitions, relationship challenges, family conflict, self-esteem concerns, or spiritual questions, I strive to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where healing can occur.
I am passionate about helping clients discover resilience, develop healthy coping strategies, strengthen relationships, and move toward meaningful and fulfilling lives. My goal is to walk alongside you with empathy, authenticity, and hope as you work toward your personal goals and overall well-being.
Outside of counseling, I enjoy reading, fitness, mentoring others, serving within my faith community, and spending time with my family. Most importantly, being a mother continually reminds me of the importance of grace, perseverance, and the transformative power of connection and support.
